9. Ambient Light
Your vision is your best guide. Leaving the strobes on the boat and focusing on searching of pleasing light can be not only liberating but also very productive. Since the colours and contrast of the scene are affected by ambient light only, both your eyes and the camera pretty much see the scene identically, therefor looking for the right motif and fine-tunning the angle to perfection can be much more of a direct approach. The camera rig without strobes is lighter, which provides for more flexibility to hang around and take the best position at the right time. Due to handier rig, you become faster swimmer and better free diver. Furthermore, for many, the ambient photography is the king wide angle discipline.
