![]() Cocos Island, Costa Rica - August 2010: More than one year we were waiting to get to the Island of Sharks. The crossing took 32 hours one way and cut 3 days off the trip. Nevertheless it was worth it! This wild sharks sanctuary is beeing constantly targeted by longline fisherman. However, thank to guys from Marviva and National Park patrol who try to keep fisherman as far from Coco as they can, the place is still paradise for sharks. We saw loads of hammerheads, white tips, couple of whale sharks and even pair of frogfish. Cocos Island is one of a very few places left, where the nature is very close to what it has been for thousands of years. Please, help to protect Cocos Island - donate on http://www.marviva.net .gallery Iceland - March 2010: On assignemt for german Unterwasser magazine we travelled to Iceland to experience some real winter diving. And so it was - cold. Temperatures around freezing point, overcast, wind, snow and rain were the attributes of this trip. However, underwater beauty amazed me. Unique structures and never ending visibility. Iceland is a natural wonder above surface as well as under it.gallery South Africa - Fabruary 2010: This was simply an incredible experience. Dolphins, whale sharks, schools and all you can dream of. Visibility was the only thing that was not always playing along. Thank to Rob and Samantha we had some fantastic moments in theese truely wild waters. Do I have to say where are we heading next year?gallery Thailand, Burma - January 2010: We just returned from a fantastic trip in Andaman sea. On board of Giamani (www.diving-thailand-phuket.com) we travelled from northern islands Ko Bon and Ko Tachai up to Black Rock, where a half dozen of manta rays stayed with us entire diving day. Another highlight of the trip was Richelieu Rock with its unbelievable coral growth, schools of fish and small stuff. Special thank belongs to Colona Liveaboards for great service on board of wonderful Giamani vessel. gallery November 2009: Cover page of american Sport Diver. Another cover page for US diving magazine this year. I am very very pleased, because the contributors competition in this magazine is enormous. The photograph captured in Philippines, Puerto Gallera. gallery October 2009: Cover page of BUDDY diving magazine. I am pleased to say that this month czech diving magazine decided to have one of my sea cow images on the cover. Beside that the story about Gulf Fleet 31, deep wreck near Hurghada, is inside this issue.gallery Marsa Alam - September 2009: Just returned from my favourite destination in Red Sea, Marsa Alam. Once again I focused on the bay of Abu Dabbab to capture variety of animals living in theese grass fields. Turtles, dugong, rays.
I dived with Orca Abu Dabbab, which delivered absolutely superb service. Theese guys managed to get things working accurately and on time. Great diving center!gallery July 2009: Cover page of BUDDY magazine. I am pleased that one of my green sea turtle images appeared this month on cover page of czech diving magazine BUDDY. Another successful image from Marsa Alam trip.
gallery Safaga, Hurghada, Egypt - July 2009: On assignment for german magazine Unterwasser we discovered coral reefs around Safaga with Orca dive center. Our main goal was capturing the wreck of Gulf Fleet 31 which lies in depth of 100 meters. Thanks to Orca Safaga dive center which delivered absolutely top notch service. Another thank to Marc Crane for his professional and friendly approach! If you plan to dive that area, dive with Orca.gallery Sardine Run, Aliwal Shoal, South Africa - June 2009: 3 weeks trip started with observing of anual sardine migration along the Transkei coast. Sardines arrived late this season. Furthermore from the beginning we were dealing with bad visibility. However, we had nice time with observing whales, thousands of dolphins and birds patiently waiting for the day when sards come... Sardine Run really is about waiting for that one day!
gallery July 2009: Cover of Sport Diver magazine. I am pleased that one of dugong shot appears on Sport Diver magazine. Actually I start to realize how productive that trip was. I took us quite long to find the sea cow but once we did it was worth the trip.gallery February 2009: Cover of DIVER magazine. I am pleased that one of my turtle images from Marsa Alam appeared on the cover of february issue of british DIVER magazine.gallery Marsa Alam, Egypt - Október 2008: I have been searching for dugong Denis - sea cow, which comes to Abu Dabbab bay to feed, 4 days without single encounter. My buddy already gave up, but I am crossing the shallow bay again and again. Underway I am meeting big sea turtles, that feed on sea gras. The sun is getting down, thought another day gone...
Reefs of Abu Dabbab offer big variety of photography object, but neither Soly Mar hotel, nor Diving Ocean Procect diving center met my expectations. Better dive with someone else.gallery Liguria, Italy - October 2008: It is been long time since I dived in Mediterranean and was expecting much less than we saw. We started in area of Portofino, which amazed me with its gorgonian forests and rich fish life. Unique atmosphere of Cinque Terre above water was as much exciting as its underwater life. We continued west and had memorable dive on amazing wreck of Haven. Big stone formations of Bergeggi and yellow walls of Gallinara were next stops. Finally we reached the french frontiers, where we had great dives on the helicopter wreck. During whole trip we were accompanied by Manuela Capone from Pianeta Blu diving center in Ventimiglia, who deserves big THANKS for her service. If you are planning trip to Liguria, do not miss diving around Ventimiglia with http://pianetablu.com/ !gallery Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt - July 2008: After shooting a couple of times in lower visibility I felt like in heaven when diving in clear waters of Red Sea. As always in Sharm, we had nice time with many interesting things under the surface.gallery Aliwal Shoal, South Africa - May 2008: Absolutely amazing trip with big tiger ladies which I totaly fell in love with. The water was boiling once we jumped in... gallery Protea Banks, South Africa - April 2008: Great wild diving with various shark species. During our stay we had great visibility and nice weather, although the place itself delivers very challenging conditions for photography. Lots of sharks - hammerheads, zambezi, guitar, black tip and tiger shark.gallery Komodo - October 2007: We fell in love with this place last year and were pretty sure to come back as soon as possible. This time we went all around the place to explore some new dive sites. What to say, I fell in love even more... I will never come back :)gallery Bali - October 2007: Bali truely is an Island of Gods. The gods were very generous under the surface. We had an amazing stay with wonderful weather, good visibility and lots of unique critters. Swimming with big group of jackfish is for me always one of the highlights. The USS Liberty wreck was shining in all its beauty. The dives here belong to my favourite ones. Beside this we had beautiful dives pretty much everywhere we went along the northern coast. Do I have to say we are comming back?gallery Baros, Maldives - September 2007: This was my first trip to Maldives and surely not the last one. Some great diving, rich fish life and very nice resort. The encounters with manta rays on southern edge of North Male atol are exceptional. On most dive sites we experienced the real fish soup. Thanks to Baros resort we spent wonderful 8 days in paradise.gallery Vis, Coatia - July 2007: Not much to see in terms of marine life. One of few nice experiences was swimming in a blue cave. gallery Sudan - April 2007: Once again Sudan did not disappoint. Although the visibility could have been much better especially on southern dive sites, it is still our favourite Red Sea cruise. Shaa'b Rumi is the best reef we have ever seen and the close hammerheads encounters surely belong to highlights of every trip. We could not discover the best reefs of Suakin because of rough sea, which made the southern cruise relatively disappointing. gallery Komodo, Indonesia - September 2006: After one week on Bali we are heading to Komodo national park. Dry climate does not bring much rainfall at this time of the year, so green fields from pictures changed in dry savannas. Great visibility on northern and central dive sites. Also south winds still keep running and caused restricted visibility on Nusa Kode and south Komodo dive sites. On our 9 days liveaboard we had beautiful weather, lots of sunshine, many mantas on Karang Makassar, dolphins on Castle rock, some stronger currents on Gili Banta and Batu Tiga. One of the most amazing dive trips we have had. Plenty of various marine life, photography oportunities, stunning reefscapes and sceneries and unique komodo dragons. We are definitely comming back.gallery Bali, Indonesia - September 2006: Whithout a doubt Islands of Gods has much to offer in terms of UW photography. Great muck diving on Scuba Seraya, beautiful coral gardens on Gili Selang and some nice schools on Tulamben. Diving resort in Tulamben run by a german guy Joe offeres perfect comfort for UW photographers. We had couple good drift dives around Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan, but unfortunately Molas did not show up.gallery Bunaken, Indonesia - August 2006: Beautiful reef right in front of our waterfront bungalow was great place to do some snorkeling between the dives. A piece of everything was found in theese waters. Lots of turtles, schools of bluefin and giant trevallies, some black tips and unique macro stuff. Beside ornate and harlequin ghostpipe fish, nudibranches, leaffish, coleman shrimp, our best catch was a pregnant pigmy sea horse and a pair of mandarin fish. Overall it was very nice and relaxing stay.gallery |
